Strategic Study of CAE 2015, Volume 17, Issue 3, Pages 45-49
The paper proposes to apply one new technology base on the research results of “973” project of non-grid-connected wind power to gain freshwater in some areas (such as Gansu Province) which is shortage of freshwater resources, but rich in Brackish water. Then, efficiency advantages of the new technology are analyzed from the perspective of energy consumption and energy conservation. Some suggestions about this application of large-scale technology were put forward.

Study on the Mechanism and Cause Mode of the Karst Collapse——Taking Tai’an-Laiwu for Example
Gao Zongjun
Strategic Study of CAE 2008, Volume 10, Issue 4, Pages 38-43
The fearful karst collapses have been produced in succession since 1970s by the exploitation of karst water in the area of Tai'an-Laiwu, Shandong province. The limestone buried by Quaternary System grows into karst caves, and karst collapse brings enormous harm to the local society and economy development. The spatio-temporal distributing characteristics of karst collapse are summed up in detail. The geological condition, artificial function and forming mechanism of karst collapse are discussed. The cause mode of the karst collapse aiming at the existing questions is discussed and the idea for karst collapse studying in the future is given at last.

Adversarial Attacks and Defenses in Deep Learning Feature Article

With the rapid developments of artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning (DL) techniques, it is critical
to ensure the security and robustness of the deployed algorithms. Recently, the security vulnerability of
DL algorithms to adversarial samples has been widely recognized. The fabricated samples can lead to various
misbehaviors of the DL models while being perceived as benign by humans. Successful implementations
of adversarial attacks in real physical-world scenarios further demonstrate their practicality.
Hence, adversarial attack and defense techniques have attracted increasing attention from both machine
learning and security communities and have become a hot research topic in recent years. In this paper,
we first introduce the theoretical foundations, algorithms, and applications of adversarial attack techniques.
We then describe a few research efforts on the defense techniques, which cover the broad frontier
in the field. Several open problems and challenges are subsequently discussed, which we hope will provoke
further research efforts in this critical area.
